AI ML Data Mining and Bots O, my

There has been some new terms floating around. That the general public never heard, do not understand, or just confused about. Some of this terms have been around for more than Half-A-Century. If you have used autocorrect, swipe keyboard, or a voice translation app (Siri, Allo, Alexa, etc). You have used one or all the technologies below.

Bots : Which is a computer program that runs automatically. Once the human configures the bot and runs it, no further human intervention is required, except for troubleshooting or any such problems. There is many types of bots such as spider (crawler), trawler, spammers, etc.. For more information Bot Nerds is a good place to start. Which talks about Good and Bad Bots. One of the first Bot (chatbot) was used between 1964 - 1966. It was natural language processing computer named Eliza. It did not use any AI technology. Most Bots today incorporate a bit of AI technology.

ML (Machine Learning) : ML deals with turning data into information and taking decisions based on that. Which is broken down into three broad categories Supervised learning, Unsupervised learning, and Reinforcement learning. Machine learning and statistics are closely related fields. Machine Learning gets confusing because it’s referred to more broadly as AI. Alan Turing’s seminal paper “Computing Machinery and Intelligence” was written in 1950. AI (Artificial Intelligence) : AI deals with making computers mimic humans, such as Logic and Reasoning. In other words, making computers think. It may appear to be Alive but that is only Anthropomorphism. Artificial intelligence term was coined by John McCarthy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1956. Data Mining: This field is mostly concerned with extracting information from a vast amount of data. Google Search is one example of such a system. It is not exactly a technical subject rather application of different algorithms related to AI and Machine Learning.
